What we cover, for how long, and what we will not pretend to cover.
A warranty is only worth the paper it is printed on, so ours is short and specific. Below is what is covered by frame, foam, fabric and mechanism; what is not covered; how to raise a claim; and how to make the piece last.
What is covered
Split by component, because that is how a sofa actually fails — and because a single “one-year warranty” tells you nothing.
| Component | Period | What is covered | What is not |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frame and joinery | 10 years | Structural failure, joint separation, breakage under normal domestic use | Damage from moving, dropping, standing on arms |
| Foam and filling | 3 years | Loss of more than 20% of original seat height | Normal softening, which is expected and not a fault |
| Mechanism (sofa-cum-bed) | 2 years | Failure of the folding mechanism under intended use | Forcing the mechanism, or use beyond the stated weight |
| Fabric and stitching | 1 year | Seam failure, mill defects in the cloth itself | Wear, pilling, fading, stains, cuts, pet damage |
| Timber finish | 1 year | Finish lifting or cracking without misuse | Water marks, heat marks, scratches |
Periods run from the date of delivery on your invoice. Contract and commercial orders carry terms set out separately in the project quotation.
What is never covered
- Damage from water, damp walls, flooding or a leaking ceiling
- Damage from direct sun over long periods — fading is a property of cloth
- Cuts, burns, ink, oil, and stains of any kind
- Pet scratches and chewing
- Damage in transit caused by a third-party mover you appointed
- Any piece altered or repaired by someone other than us
- Normal softening of foam and the creasing of fabric, which is what upholstery does
How to raise a claim
Message the studio on WhatsApp with your invoice number, a photograph of the problem, and a sentence on when it started. A voice note is fine — we would rather have the detail than the formality.
We reply within two working days. If it needs eyes, we visit — in Bengaluru, usually within a week. If it is covered, we repair or replace at our cost. If it is not covered, we will tell you plainly and quote the repair honestly.
Care, by material
Most complaints that arrive as a WhatsApp voice note are solved by one of these five lines.
Fabric
Monthly, then yearly- Vacuum monthly with a soft brush head
- Blot spills immediately — never rub
- Rotate and plump cushions weekly for the first month
- Professional clean every two to three years
Leather
Twice a year- Wipe with a dry, soft cloth
- Condition twice a year with a neutral leather cream
- Keep out of direct afternoon sun
- Small scratches usually patina out — wait before treating
Timber & foam
Always- Dry cloth only on timber — no wet wiping
- Wax polish once a year
- Keep the sofa out of direct sun; heat shortens foam life
- Lift, never drag, when you move it
Re-upholstery, and the second life
A frame we built ten years ago is usually still a good frame. Re-upholstery replaces the cover, the foam and the webbing, and the sofa comes back looking new for a fraction of a replacement.
- New cover in any of our 60+ fabrics, or your own
- New seat foam and back filling at the density you choose
- Re-webbing and joint tightening while it is open
- We will also re-cover a good frame that someone else built
